2013 February 13 - 19 [JCP]

All four JCP candidates elected in Maebashi City

February 18, 2013
The Japanese Communist Party secured the four seats held by JCP incumbents in the Maebashi City Assembly election on February 17 despite a decrease in the number of assembly seats by five from 43.

The four JCP candidates received a total of 12,511 votes, up by 355 votes from the previous election, and the JCP’s share of the vote also increased to 10.17%.

The JCP during the election campaign criticized other political parties for being part of the “all-are-ruling parties” block supportive of the city mayor’s policy to use tax money for large-scale development projects.

The JCP publicized its “strategy for growth of Maebashi City” which aims to support people’s livelihoods and small business owners while stopping the wasteful use of public money. The party called on voters to support the party in order to realize citizens’ demands.
