JCP talks with company management for elimination of unpaid overtime

Representatives of the Japanese Communist Party on May 28 visited the head office of Yasukawa Electric Corp., a Kitakyushu City-based electric machinery producer in Fukuoka Prefecture, calling on the management to end unpaid overtime work.

The JCP representatives, including two JCP parliamentarians, proposed the talks as part of the JCP visiting activity for requesting management to thoroughly comply with the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry circular issued in April calling for the elimination of unpaid overtime work.

The talks covered the proper and objective time management based on time cards and IC cards the government mandates in the circular. The JCP requested such devices for time recording to be installed in every workplace throughout the company.

Yasukawa Electric is a major regional manufacturer in the Kyushu district with about 3,600 employees. Yasukawa Electric produces industrial machinery, including plants for robotics automation.

In their response, two company representatives agreed to the government mandate, saying, "Such an objective management is a must."

JCP employees of one of Yasukawa's subsidiary companies also attended the talks, representing the JCP branch organized in the subcontractor firm. (end)
