New Japan Women's Association celebrates its 40th anniversary

The New Japan Women's Association, Japan's largest progressive women's organization with a membership of 200,000, on October 19 observed its 40th founding anniversary.

On October 18, the organization held a reception to mark the anniversary in a Tokyo hotel.

At the reception, NJWA President Inoue Miyo addressed the 400 participants representing various popular movements. Looking back on the organization's 40-year history that has been devoted to women's rights and democratic demands, she expressed the resolve to further develop activities for the right to
live in a world without war.
