Shii calls on Obama to display initiative in banning nuclear weapons
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 28 sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama, in which he stated: "I strongly request that ‎you take the initiative for starting ‎international negotiations for the conclusion ‎of an international treaty for the elimination ‎of nuclear weapons."

Consumption tax hike will follow pork-barrel scheme for large corporations
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi stated, "The government's economic stimulus package provides generous handouts only with the view toward winning the general election and is only made possible through a higher consumption tax. It has learned nothing from the past failures in its bankrupt economic policy."

Unlike the special measures law to send Self-Defense Force units to Iraq, the 'anti-piracy' bill, if enacted, will be a permanent law. The task now is for us to scrap the bill to prevent the move to destroy the constitutional principles of peace.
