    Events and rallies in support of the International Women's Day took place in many locations in Japan on March 8 calling for true peace, gender equality, and solidarity with women around the world.

    Koike made this remark in an in-Diet rally to promote a "quota system" aiming at proportionality in number of women and men representatives in the Diet. The executive officers in ruling and opposition parties also participated in this gathering.
