US stray bullet found at farm hut in Okinawa's Nago City

June 22, 2018

A stray bullet, believed to be from a U.S. firing range, was found at a farm-work hut in Nago City in Okinawa on June 21.

According to the Nago Police, the bullet struck the workshop, breaking two windows.

Janaha Kiichiro, an Okinawa vice governor, said, "If the bullet is confirmed to be from the U.S. military firing range, I cannot help but feel infuriated."

This area where the bullet landed had an errant bullet incident twice in the past, both of which flew from U.S. Camp Schwab. Since Okinawa's reversion to Japan in 1972, a total of 28 off-target bullet incidents have occurred in Okinawa.
