ICAN’s Nobel Peace Prize Medal put on public view at peace museum in Hiroshima

July 23, 2018

A replica of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize Medal awarded to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) was put on display on July 22 at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, also known as the Hiroshima A-bomb museum.

The display of the replica medal in Hiroshima will last until August 6. The replica will be put on public view at Nagasaki’s peace museum on August 8.

ICAN founder Tim Wright visited the Hiroshima peace museum prior to the exhibition. He expressed his hope that many visitors viewing the medal feel inspired to do something to help to work for world peace as well as for a world without nuclear weapons.

During the exhibition in Hiroshima, photo panels showing images of the ceremony of the Nobel Peace Prize held in December 2017 and the adoption of the UN nuclear ban treaty in July 2017 are also on display.
