This week’s JCP international activity

October 17&18, 2018

The eighth theoretical exchange between the Japanese Communist Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam took place on October 16 and 17 in Can Tho City, the second largest city in southern Vietnam, under the theme, “the Vitality of Marxism in modern-day society”.

On the first day, JCP Vice Secretariat Head Tanaka Yu, who heads the JCP delegation, and CPV delegation head Nguyen Xuan Thang, who is also the Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, delivered keynote addresses.

Tanaka in his keynote speech explained how Marxism is reflected in the JCP Program and said that scientific socialism (i.e.Marxism) serves as a guideline for the party’s analysis of the current situation of Japan and the world as well as for the party’s activities aiming for a non-violent revolution.

The CPV theoretical council chair spoke about Vietnam’s efforts in regard to promoting socialism. Thang said that the party seeks socialism through the Doi Moi policy and the socialism-oriented market economy by utilizing and adapting theories of Marxism to the nation’s current conditions in a creative manner.

In the two-day meeting, a total of 11 members of the JCP and CPV delegations, including the delegation heads, gave lectures. The two delegations also exchanged views on the actual status and problems of the CPV’s Doi Moi policy, the JCP principle of attaining a peaceful revolution through winning a parliamentary majority, and other issues. In conclusion, the JCP and CPV delegates confirmed that the latest theoretical exchange ended on a positive note and that the two parties strengthened their relations.
