Keidanren calls on companies to make donations based on its annual report card to LDP
|
The Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) in its evaluation report on political parties’ policies published on October 15 gave good marks to the Liberal Democratic Party. Japan’s largest business lobby compiles “report cards” of political parties every year with the aim of encouraging its member companies and organizations to make political donations to the LDP.
Keidanren made a call for using its annual “report cards” for political donations six years in a row.
Keidanren expressed its appreciation to the LDP for playing its role as the ruling party of the Abe government in increasing the consumption tax rate to 10%, promoting the reactivation of off-line nuclear reactors, and implementing “work-style” reforms imposing on workers excessively longer working hours and more unstable jobs. In addition, this most influential business organization spoke highly of the LDP’s efforts to enable corporations to use individuals’ personal information more freely to enhance their profit-seeking activities.
Keidanren urged the LDP to accelerate its move to review social welfare programs, especially concerning the levels of people’s burdens and benefits, with the view of slashing government spending for social services.
