Ozawa will be indicted

October 5, 2010
The Committee for the Inquest of Prosecution on October 4 again judged that former secretary general of the Democratic Party of Japan Ozawa Ichiro should be indicted over his political funds scandal. According to this decision made by the 11 committee members, Ozawa will be prosecuted.

The decision is representing the public sentiment blaming the DPJ government for turning its back on efforts to expose the full picture of Ozawa’s “money-for-politics” scandal.

Asked by reporters for a comment on the committee’s judgment, Japanese Communist Party Vice-Diet Policy Commission Chair Sasaki Kensho (House of Representatives) stated, “That Ozawa will be forcibly indicted is very serious. The Diet should find out the whole truth and pursue his political and moral responsibility for the allegation. The JCP will call on other political parties to together demand Ozawa’s appearance as a sworn witness before the Diet.”

Sasaki also said, “A thorough investigation into not only the alleged falsification of his political funds reports but also the alleged receipt of suspicious donations from construction companies.”
