Japan Gensuikyo ready for online antinuke World Conference

April 17, 2020
The Japan Council against A & H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) on April 16 held an online board meeting and reconfirmed the importance of holding an antinuke World Conference schedule to be held in nine days on the Internet.

The online World Conference will take place as a replacement for the initially-planned conference in NYC which was canceled due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19. The 2-hour online World Conference, "Abolish Nuclear Weapons, Resist and Reverse the Climate Crisis, Demand Social and Economic Justice", will start at 10 o'clock on the evening of April 25 in Japan and 9 o'clock on the morning of the same day in NYC. UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Nakamitsu Izumi will participate in the conference.

Japan Gensuikyo Secretary General Yasui Masakazu said that the organization will propose the holding of an online antinuke Hiroshima/Nagasaki conference in August to the annual World Conference organizing committee.
