CPV delegation visits Akahata editorial office

November 9, 2022

A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education led by its deputy chairman Phan Xuan Thuy on November 8 visited the Akahata editorial office and held talks with Akahata Chief Editor Kogiso Yoji.

Kogiso said that in addition to its role as the JCP organ paper, Akahata plays a role as watchdog journalism, a newspaper providing a broader perspective on social progress in Japan and the rest of the world, and a people’s media tool to promote their joint struggles. He added that Akahata in its articles deals with a wider range of topics such as gender equality and the climate crisis.

Thuy expressed his delight in visiting the Akahata editorial office and hoped that relations between the CPV’s communication/education commission and the JCP’s press/publication sections will be strengthened.

Noting that the CPV’s Nhan Dan Newspaper and Akahata have regularly exchanged their experiences and activities, Thuy said that he hopes that Akahata will establish a reliable position among the general public as the JCP’s newspaper and continue fulfilling its role.

After the visit to the Akahata editorial office, the CPV delegation met with JCP Vice Chair Tamura Tomoko at the JCP head office.

Tamura welcomed another visit by the CPV delegation following the two parties’ theoretical exchange meeting in October, saying that she rejoices that the JCP’s relations with the CPV have deepened.

Thuy offered his congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the JCP founding and conveyed his expectations for the development of the two parties’ exchanges and cooperation in cultural and other areas.

In response to the CPV delegation head’s remark that his talks with the Akahata chief editor fostered better understanding about Akahata’s role, Tamura said that the JCP puts importance on theoretical and publicity activities with the hope that these activities will contribute to setting a vision for peace and democracy for people who worry about the future of the world due to the Ukraine issue and the China-U.S. conflict, and said, “Akahata plays important role in this regard.”
