Shii attends 70th anniversary celebration of Min-iren

August 20, 2023
The Japan Federation of Democratic Medical Institutions (Min-iren) on August 19 held a ceremony in Tokyo to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its founding.

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo, JCP Secretariat Head Koike Akira, M.D., JCP member of the House Representatives Kasai Akira, and JCP members of the House of Councilors Inoue Satoshi, Kira Yoshiko, and Yamazoe Taku attended the ceremony.

Delivering a speech on behalf of Min-iren, chair Masuda Tsuyoshi pointed out that Min-iren has always provided healthcare services to all people in need and has worked hard to realize a gender-equal society where everyone can live with dignity. He stressed that under the current situation in which the Kishida government is pushing forward with its attempt to turn Japan into a war-fighting nation, it is urgently necessary to unite with the general public to stand up for a Japan which protects all individuals’ lives and human rights.

Shii delivered a speech on behalf of the JCP. Shii said, “As an organization working to realize healthcare and welfare centered on non-discrimination and equality, Min-iren plays a vital part in protecting people’s lives and health. I’d like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude for Min-iren’s hard work.”

Shii expressed his hope that Min-iren will make a further advance in its movement and organization as well as in its medical and nursing-care projects.

Guest speakers, including a representative of another South Korean organization similar to Min-iren, delivered congratulatory speeches.
