4 opposition party meeting about drastic revision of the Worker Dispatch Law should be held immediately

May 12, 2009
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi at a news conference on May 11 said that the four opposition parties should meet as soon as possible to discuss an overhaul of the Worker Dispatch Law.

Pointing out that the four opposition parties at a meeting of secretaries general in May last year agreed to begin policy chief level discussions about a far-reaching revision to the law, Ichida stated, “Although there are differences between the four parties’ stances on amending the law, an agreement should be carried out after careful discussion.”

Explaining that the JCP has so far visited the secretaries general of the Democratic, the Social Democratic, and People’s New parties to urge them to hold the meeting and received positive responses, Ichida said, “I want three opposition parties to take a position that will help to realize an agreement.”
