Another case of trespassing by US serviceman during curfew

January 14, 2013
A U.S. sailor was arrested on the spot on suspicion of trespassing into a house in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on January 13.

The arrested man was petty officer 2nd class Richard Lawton, 24, stationed at the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Base. He was drunk at the time of his arrest around 2:40 a.m. and said that he thought his friend was in the house, according to the police.

The owner of the house said they do not know the serviceman, the police reported.

Following the alleged rape of a woman in Okinawa by two U.S. sailors in October, the U.S. forces in Japan has imposed a curfew on military personnel from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
