JCP Shii sends condolence message on death of Nelson Mandela

December 7, 2013
At the news of the death of former President Nelson Mandela, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 6 sent the following message of condolence to President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma:

I am saddened to learn the news that Former President Nelson Mandela has passed away. I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and your people. President Mandela was an outstanding leader of the African National Congress, who dedicated his life for the emancipation of South Africa from the Apartheid regime. Even as a prisoner for 27 years, he uncompromisingly continued his struggle for freedom. He served as the country’s first democratically elected black president, promoting the national reconciliation among races and ethnicities. His life is and will continue to be encouragement and inspiration for the people around the world who seek democracy, equality and human rights. I sincerely hope that the people of South Africa will take up President Mandela’s legacy and further promote social progress.
