JCP Takahashi demands withdrawal of bill to revise Worker Dispatch Law

Japanese Communist Party lawmaker Takahashi Chizuko urged the government to withdraw a bill to revise the Worker Dispatch Law as it will increase unstable jobs and social inequality in the House of Representatives Plenary Session on October 28, the day when Diet deliberations on the bill started.

Takahashi in her interpellation criticized the bill by saying that a revised law would destroy temporary workers’ chances to become permanent employees, while paving the way for limitless use of staffing services by corporations.

The prime minister in his reply cited that the bill includes measures to provide opportunities for dispatched workers to get regular positions. Refuting the PM’s remark, the JCP lawmaker pointed out that as the bill only calls for corporations to do what they can, it is meaningless.

Noting that the bill has no provisions regarding equal treatment of dispatched workers with full-time workers at host companies, Takahashi said, “In European nations, temporary workers are normally entitled to equal treatment.”

PM Abe just indicated the need to overcome any inadequacies in the bill.
