Ogata-CPAPD exec

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on February 4 met with the visiting secretary general of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), Zhu Rui, at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

Zhu Rui said this year is an important milestone marking the 70th anniversary of China’s victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression, and that it is necessary to learn from history to open up a new vista for the future. He expressed his hope for cooperation with Japanese peace movements.

Ogata said that the JCP is proposing what the Japanese government should take as its basic stance on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He explained the JCP initiative for creating a framework of peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia. He also talked about a Nuclear Weapons Convention and the NPT Review Conference.

Ogata in Tet reception

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who is also the JCP International Commission chief, on February 6 attended a reception hosted by Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung celebrating Tet, the Vietnamese New Year.

Ogata offered his congratulations to the ambassador and had pleasant talks with Japanese and foreign guests.
