Yamashita meets with Chinese embassy’s political counsellor

Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Yamashita Yoshiki on March 24 held talks with incoming Political Section Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo Xue Jian at the JCP head office.

Introducing himself to Yamashita, the counsellor said that now is a critical time in Japan-China relations and expressed his hope for the JCP’s cooperation in improving bilateral relations.

Yamashita noted that the JCP in the 3rd CC Plenum Resolution delineated five points regarding Japan’s basic political stance in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the war’s end. He said that the JCP will do its utmost to make this year a new beginning of harmony and friendship between Japan and other Asian nations.

Ogata attends celebration for 80th anniversary of Japan-Central America relations

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on March 25 attended a reception held in Tokyo to celebrate the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and five Central American nations (Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala).

Ogata exchanged greetings with the five nations’ ambassadors to Japan and held friendly talks with Japanese and foreign guests.
