The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare announced a change to its uniform guidelines urging companies to cap monthly overtime at 45 hours or less. This move appears to be in response to demands from the business community.
The International Labor Conference, the ILO’s highest decision-making body, in July adopted the Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention (No.193), the first treaty that guarantees global labor standards for platform workers.
Prime Minister Takaichi merely stated that the U.S. administration’s decision to impose sanctions on ICC President Akane is “very unfortunate.” It appears that Japan has no intention of criticizing the sanctions or calling for their withdrawal.
