JCP proposes establishing a national coalition gov’t to repeal war legislation

The Japanese Communist Party has announced that it will cooperate with other opposition parties in upcoming national elections to form a provisional coalition government just for the purpose of repealing the recently-enacted security legislation and for bringing back constitutionalism.

Shii condemns railroading of war bills

The government-drafted war bills, amid the yelling and scuffling drowning out the chairman’s voice, was rammed through the Upper House Special Committee. JCP Chair Shii Kazuo criticized the forcible passage of the bills as outrageous.

Okinawa begins procedure to revoke approval for landfill in Henoko

Okinawa Gov. Onaga announced that the prefectural authorities launched procedures to revoke the approval of Henoko landfill project needed to construct a new U.S. base, following the resumption of Henoko reclamation work by the central government.
