JCP donates over 8 million yen to Red Cross for humanitarian aid in Gaza

Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira on December 7 met with a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Diet building and delivered 8,861,044 yen in donations the party received from throughout Japan for humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The head of the ICRC Delegation in Japan, Hanzawa Shoko, who had the experience of working in Palestine, expressed her thanks to the JCP and said, “With the unprecedented scale of attacks by Israel, there is no safe haven in Gaza. We have difficulty in delivering medical supplies to Gaza hospitals. Doctors are facing a desperate situation where they have to make triage decisions.”

Koike expressed his respect for the ICRC’s activities in Gaza and introduced the JCP statement calling for a suspension of attacks on Gaza and an immediate ceasefire as well as JCP Diet efforts on this matter. He expressed his determination to continue demanding the Japanese government call for an end to the slaughter in Gaza and work to support the people in Gaza.
