US sergeant arrested for robbery

June 7, 2015
Naha Police on June 6 arrested a U.S. Marines sergeant assigned to Camp Hansen on suspicion of robbery resulting in injury. He is denying the accusation.

According to the police, the 26-year-old sergeant on May 24 punched a 21-year-old man in the face and robbed him of 4,000 yen in cash at around 5:30 a.m. in downtown Naha City, Okinawa. The victim suffered a fractured cheekbone.

Suspecting the existence of another U.S. serviceman as an accomplice, the police obtained an arrest warrant to look for the possible accomplice.
