The ruling Liberal Democratic and Komei parties and the “Nippon Ishin no Kai” party at a House of Representatives Budget Committee meeting dismissed an opposition parties’ proposal for a 2020 budget draft revision to urgently fight against COVID-19.
The FY 2020 budget amounts to a record high of 102 trillion yen. It, however, allocates no funding for measures to contain the coronavirus crisis while spending generously for the massive purchase of U.S. weapons and the promotion of casino development.
