Japan celebrates 90th May Day


On May 1, in celebration of the 90th May Day in Japan, rallies took place at 294 locations throughout the country with more than 150,000 workers and union activists participating. In Tokyo, 28,000 people, including National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren)-affiliated workers and grassroots activists, took part in the central May Day rally. After the rally, participants marched in demonstration through major shopping districts on three separate courses, holding placards that reads "Stop consumption tax hike to 10%!", "Create a society where everyone can live decently with an 8-hour work day!", and "Shorten working hours!"
