Young musicians ask JCP cooperation regarding compensation to live music clubs

Young musicians in Sapporo City (Hokkaido Pref.) on April 28 asked for JCP cooperation in realizing a compensation program for music halls.

Former Lower House lawmaker Hatayama Kazuya (right) met with them in a live music club to obtain their requests.

Hokkaido is a prefecture where the governor declared a state of emergency before PM Abe did. It's been two months since the declaration there. All music clubs and halls are struggling hard for their survival amid stay-at-home requests by authorities to people in the fight against the coronavirus.

Hatayama told them that compared to many European counties, the Japanese government puts off compensating artists, musicians, and cultural figures. He said, "We will work together with you to press the central government to start compensation."
