Braving the scorching heat, 25,000 people assembled near the Diet building in protest against the Takaichi government forcibly enacting unjust laws. On this day, similar protests took place at more than 270 locations across the country.
On July 17, as the special Diet session was set to end, the Takaichi government, comprised of the Liberal Democratic Party and the “Nippon Ishin no Kai” party, pushed for an extension of the session until July 25.
The House of Councillors at its plenary session enacted a series of harmful bills by a majority vote of the ruling and some opposition parties. In doing so, they ignored addressing the need for measures to alleviate the hardships of the general public.
