In response to an investigative scoop by the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun revealing that the Ground SDF Central Information Unit at Camp Asaka had been collecting citizens’ private information, the JCP protested to the Defense Ministry, calling the action “citizen surveillance.”
A 2-day international meeting, the opening event of the 2026 World Conference against A & H Bombs, took place in Hiroshima City. The meeting functioned as a forum for sharing efforts made by people in nuclear-possessing and nuclear-dependent countries.
In response to the major earthquake that struck Kumamoto on July 28, JCP Dietmembers, local assemblypersons, and local staff have been visiting evacuation centers to learn about and address the needs of those affected by the disaster.
