He said that Vietnam has achieved remarkable development under the Doi Moi (innovation) policy line, expressing his hope for Vietnam’s further contribution to regional and global peace and development.
CPV General Secretary Lam said that the independence declaration 80 years ago was a landmark event which put an end to French colonization and paved the way for Vietnam’s national independence. He said that for the past 80 years, Vietnam, enjoying international solidarity and national unity, has overcome all difficulties and garnered much success. He expressed his solidarity with world political parties which stood in solidarity with the Vietnamese people fighting for national liberation. He also expressed his determination to unite with citizens worldwide who champion peace and social progress.
At the meeting venue, Ogata exchanged greetings with the CPV general secretary and said that he hopes to continue working together with the CPV on common international issues. Lam thanked Ogata for his participation in the anniversary celebration and welcomed Ogata’s proposal.
Ogata handed the JCP Central Committee’s congratulatory letter to the CPV Central Committee Secretary and Vietnam’s Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
