Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, on July 4 at the venue of the 40th congress of the French Communist Party (PCF), held talks with PCF National Secretary Fabien Roussel.
Ogata explained the JCP’s views on Japan’s political, diplomatic, and social matters, including the increasingly right-leaning Takaichi government and Japan’s relations with the U.S. and China.
Ogata and Roussel welcomed the fact that JCP-PCF relations have been developing through such means as holding online meetings via Zoom based on an agreement reached at the 2024 Paris meeting between the two parties.
Ogata handed Roussel a copy of JCP Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo’s book “Disposable Time and Capital (English version)”. The two talked about the holding of theoretical exchanges and a continued development of the two parties’ ties.
The PCF congress, which took place between July 3-5 in Lille in France, was attended by 53 representatives of 29 political parties and organizations from 27 countries. Ogata held talks with these representatives.
