This week’s JCP international activities

March 26-28, 2014
Ogata holds talks with Lao Standing Secretariat

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on March 24 held talks with Vice President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Bounnyang Vorachit, a member of LPRP Politburo and Standing Secretariat, in Vientiane, Laos.

Ogata and Bounnyang agreed to the fostering of JCP-LPRP cooperation and friendship as well as to the promotion of mutual exchanges.

Ogata said that it will be important to share experiences with one another because the JCP is an opposition party in the advanced capitalist country of Japan and the LPRP is the governing party of Laos responsible for the national economy and people’s living standards.

Later on the same day, Ogata attended a dinner party hosted by Sounthone Xayachack, vice head of LPRP’s External Relations Commission, and had a relaxing conversation with him.

JCP Int’l dept. head holds talks with CPV counterpart

JCP Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who also heads the party’s International Commission, visited Vietnam after his visit to Laos. Ogata in Hanoi met with Hoang Binh Quan, chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), on March 26.

Ogata explained that the JCP studied ASEAN’s longstanding efforts for peace and cooperation and is now calling for the creation of a similar peaceful framework in Northeast Asia.

The two international heads exchanged opinions on topics of mutual interest and on various international issues.

Ogata, Rua meet

On the same day, another talk took place between Ogata and To Huy Rua, a CPV Politburo member and the head of the party’s Organization Commission.

Leading the CPV delegation for JCP-CPV theoretical exchange meetings, Rua has come to the JCP head office in Tokyo before. He now heads the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group.

Ogata told Rua that the JCP at its 26th Congress early this year made resolutions to build a stronger party both in quality and in quantity. Rua said that the CPV is now looking back at the 30 years of CPV’s Doi Moi policy in preparation for its 12th congress scheduled for 2016.
