 | Japan Gensuikyo protests against Kishida gov’t’s decision not to attend 1st TPNW meeting The Japan Council against A and H Bombs (Japan Gensuikyo) took to the streets near Ochanomizu Station in Tokyo to protest against the Japanese government’s decision not to attend the first meeting of State Parties to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons which will begin on June 21 in Vienna, Austria. Gensuikyo Secretary General Yasui Masakazu (left) reported that 85% of respondents in opinion polls called for Japan’s participation in the meeting, and said that despite the only A-bombed nation in the world, the government refuses to sit in even as an observer, which is unacceptable.
