JCP publishes manifesto for Feb.8 general election

Japanese Communist Party Executive Committee Chair Tamura Tomoko (left) and JCP Policy Commission Chair Yamazoe Taku (right) at a press conference published the party’s manifesto for the coming general election scheduled for February 8.

Tamura said that in the election campaign, the JCP will work hard to attract voters’ support for the party’s election promises, including realizing a minimum hourly wage hike with a 1,700-yen goal and a “35-hour, 7-hour-a-day workweek”, reducing the consumption tax rate to 5% with the abolition in mind, and putting an end to Japan’s subservience to the U.S. Trump administration and opposing the planned massive increase in military spending.
