JCP makes urgent proposal on economic crisis pertaining to coronavirus outbreak

The Japanese Communist Party released an urgent proposal on measures to cope with the looming economic crisis aggravated by the new coronavirus outbreak and the consumption tax rate that was raised to 10% in October 2019.

Koike criticizes passage of revised law enabling Abe to declare state of emergency over coronavirus outbreak

A bill which enables the prime minister to declare a state of emergency over the ongoing coronavirus epidemic was enacted. A declaration of a state of emergency will authorize governors to request self-isolation and the cancellation of public gatherings.

Unions and organizations for freelance workers call for gov’t financial assistance amid coronavirus crisis

Unions and organizations representing freelance workers, including performing artists and writers, demanded that the government provide financial support for them who are experiencing loss of earnings due to the coronavirus outbreak.
