JCP Chair Shii released a statement entitled, "For Global Solidarity and Cooperation to Overcome COVID-19 Pandemic". The statement was conveyed to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom, and permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Superintending Prosecutor at the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office Kurokawa Hiromu resigned from his post over a scandal in which he engaged in mahjong gambling with newspaper journalists during the nationwide state of emergency.
JCP Secretariat Head Koike said, “The termination of the state of emergency was accomplished thanks in large part to medical workers’ heroic work as well as to the efforts made by the general public in response to the government’s stay-at-home and business suspension requests.”
