JCP in rally determined to win Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election

April 18, 2017
Receiving Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo as a guest speaker, the JCP Tokyo Metropolitan Committee on April 17 held a speech gathering at Tokyo International Forum with the aim to win more seats in the coming metropolitan assembly election slated for July 2.

All JCP candidates for the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election together with the party’s parliamentarians and candidates who will run in the next general election appeared on the stage. Tsukiji fish market workers’ union chair Nakazawa Makoto and former Komei Party vice president Futami Nobuaki delivered speeches in solidarity.

Shii began his speech by presenting the JCP view on the U.S. stance toward the North Korea issue and Japan’s political situation. He criticized the Abe administration for further promoting its anti-people policies in every field after bulldozing through the war laws while cabinet ministers have been involved in moral collapse one after another.

Shii moved on to the gathering’s main theme and stressed that the coming metropolitan assembly election will be a confrontation between the JCP and the Liberal Democratic and Komei parties. “In the upcoming metropolitan assembly election, let’s work hard to secure the current 17 JCP seats and obtain more seats,” Shii said.
