This week’s JCP international activity

May 5, 2018
Japanese Communist Party member of the House of Representatives Kasai Akira (JCP Policy Commission Chair) on May 3 participated in a meeting held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing between the Japan-China Parliamentarians’ Friendship League delegation and the chairman of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, Li Zanshu.

Kasai visited China as a member of the Japanese parliamentarians’ delegation.

In the meeting, Kasai made a remark in regard to the evolving North Korea situation. He said, “The realization of the North and South Korea summit meeting marked an epoch-making step in dealing with the issue. The talks between Chinese and North Korean leaders contributed to this achievement.” Kasai went on to say, “I really hope that relevant countries will work to support the goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and building a peace structure step-by-step in an integrated manner.”

Kasai also said that the JCP is calling on the Japanese government to actively commit itself to the move working for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

After the meeting, giving Kasai a warm handshake, Li said that he agrees with the JCP call for a peaceful settlement of the North Korea issue.
