Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo, who is in charge of the JCP International Commission, on October 23 met with Lao Ambassador Phongsamouth Anlavan at the Lao Embassy in Tokyo.

Ogata explained the JCP’s diplomatic vision aimed at creating a genuine peace in East Asia through inclusive diplomacy, and the JCP position placing importance on ASEAN efforts.

Ogata noted that the JCP and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party have nurtured a good friendship and thanked him for the congratulatory message from the Lao ruling party on the JCP’s 100th founding anniversary.

Laos will assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2024.
