Shii holds talks with delegates of Arab Ambassadors Council

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 17 at the JCP Head Office held talks with ambassadors of Bahrain and Oman, and exchanged views on the Palestinian issue and the nuclear weapons issue in the Middle East.

The two ambassadors visited the JCP office on behalf of the Arab Ambassadors Council.

On the Palestinian issue, Shii explained that the JCP calls for: Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied area; realization of the Palestinian right to self-determination including the establishment of their own independent state; and mutual recognition of the right to exist.

The JCP will urge Israel to stop its settlement expansion in the occupied area, said the JCP chair.

Bahrain’s ambassador Khalil Hassan said that a fair co-existence of two states is necessary.

Regarding the issue of nuclear disarmament, Shii said that the JCP supports a proposal for an immediate international conference for the establishment of a nuclear free zone in the Middle East. He added that the JCP is making efforts for the initiation of international negotiations on a Nuclear Weapons Convention.
