Ogata meets president of Beijing’s art center

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on April 21 met with Beijing Jindu Art Center President Rong Jian, who is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Japan Foundation, at the JCP headquarters in Tokyo.

Shii holds talks with ICAPP secretary general

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 22 at the JCP head office held talks with Chung Eui-yong, secretary general and co-chair of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

Chung expressed his appreciation for the JCP’s active participation in ICAPP activities. He added that the general assembly of the ICAPP is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in September under the theme, “Building an Asian community”.

Shii explained to Chung about the JCP’s plan for creating peace and cooperation in northeast Asia. He also cited the importance of starting negotiations for a Nuclear Weapons Convention as the 2015 review conference of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty is approaching.

Shii offers condolences to victims of South Korean ferry accident

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 30 made a call at the headquarters of the Korean Residents Union in Japan (Mindan) in Tokyo to express his condolences to victims of the recent ferry accident in South Korea.

Shii offered a floral tribute to the victims at a temporary alter jointly set up by Mindan and the South Korean Embassy in Japan.

South Korean Ambassador to Japan Lee Byung-kee expressed his appreciation to Shii for his visit.
