JCP local assembly members in Kochi call for investigation into US military jet’s low-altitude flights

December 20, 2014
Japanese Communist Party members of Kochi’s Kami City Assembly on December 19 made a representation to the city mayor, demanding that the city investigate the issue of frequent low-altitude flights by U.S. military jets.

Recently, it was witnessed many times that U.S. military aircraft flew at low-altitudes over the Monobe district in Kami City.

On the day before the representation, the JCP lawmakers visited a resident in the Monobe district who videotaped the U.S. military jet’s low-altitude flight.

Explaining the video footage to the JCP assemblypersons, the resident said that on December 15 at around ten-thirty in the morning, a U.S. military aircraft skimmed over the mountains near her house. She added that being in a state of shock due to the aircraft’s roar, her three-year-old child had an uncontrollable fit of weeping.

She asserted that U.S. military low-altitude flights appear every other day and that her son is always frightened. “I want to live in peace”, she said.
