The Self-Defense Forces’ quasi-official newspaper “Asagumo” in its “Book Review” section on November 20 featured Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo’s new book. The book is titled, “Q&A on ‘Capital’ -- Guided by Marx, let’s explore the pathways toward a better future for all from the present to the future!”

Asagumo described the book as explaining Capital in plain language by linking issues in capitalist society, such as poverty and disparity between “capitalists” and “workers”, to keywords like “exploitation” and “time”. The paper commented, “This book will likely serve as a catalyst for taking on reading the original Capital itself.”

Asagumo introduced Shii’s assertion that the message of Marx in Capital is: “Once we understand why social injustice occurs and how to resolve it, let us fight in solidarity! And let us change this world!”

Asagumo is a specialized newspaper covering SDF activities and security issues. Many of its readers are SDF officials, personnel, and their families.
