Yamaoka Kenji, Democratic Party of Japan Diet Affairs Committee Chairman, on May 13 left the floor amidst the House of Representatives plenary session and went to a fund-raising party held at a nearby hotel.
DPJ Secretary General Ozawa Ichiro was also absent for the entire session that day.
DPJ lawmakers seem to be more keen on attending fund-raising parties than Diet deliberations although the party is submitting a set of bills to remake the parliament to politician-led one by prohibiting bureaucrats from taking the floor with the intent to weaken the functions of the Diet.
Before remaking the Diet, they must remake their own attitude of disregarding the Diet deliberations.
