Ogata talks with Iranian ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on September 24 engaged in talks with Iran’s new ambassador to Japan, Dr. Reza Nazar Aahari, at the Iranian Embassy in Tokyo.

Ogata was accompanied by Komatsuzaki Sakae (representative director, Japan Asia Africa Latin America Solidarity Committee) and Taka Hiroshi (representative director, Japan Council against A & H Bombs) who attended the 16th Summit Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Teheran in August.

In the talks, they conveyed their appreciation for the support they received from the embassy in order to participate in the summit meeting. They also expressed that they hope to see Iran playing important roles for world peace, the abolition of nuclear weapons, and a fair international economic order during its three-year tenure as the chair of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Promising that Iran will play a responsible leading role as the chair of the NAM which represents nearly two-thirds of all U.N. member countries, the ambassador also expressed his hope to further develop friendship and cooperation with various organizations in Japan.
