Nagasaki Police sent a case involving two sailors of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard to the public prosecutor’s office on suspicion of sexual assault of a Japanese woman, Akahata learned on August 27.

According to the police, the alleged rape of the woman by the two U.S. servicemen stationed at the U.S. Sasebo Naval Base occurred on May 14.

The police investigated the case based on the report from the victim.
