Prior to Diet opening, Shii instructs JCP Dietmembers: clear way for coalition gov't composed of opposition parties

January 21, 2020

The 201st ordinary session of the Diet started on January 20 and will end on June 17. Prior to Prime Minister Abe Shinzo's policy speech, the Japanese Communist Party held an assembly meeting of all JCP Dietmembers.

JCP Chair Shii Kazuo in his speech to the assembly highlighted the need to increase cooperation between concerned citizens and opposition parties so that this Diet session can become a steppingstone to forming a coalition government composed of current opposition parties. To achieve this, Shii said that all JCP representatives should make the best use of the progress achieved during the JCP 28th Congress (Jan. 14 - Jan.18).

Toward the centenary of the JCP founding which will be in 2022, a new challenge has just begun to boost the JCP strength by 30%. Shii said, "Let's do our best so as to attract more people to join our party and work for a better society together with us!"
