The government submitted a bill to relax the existing rules with the aim of making it easy to mobilize public servants as Self-Defense Force reserve personnel. Criticism has been spreading that this is the first step toward the implementation of conscription.
JCP lawmaker Shirakawa criticized the government-proposed budget for imposing heavier burdens on the general public in order to fund a massive military buildup, which she said is totally unacceptable.
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira argued, “The U.S. administration should negotiate in good faith with Iran with the aim of ending the war. To that end, it should guarantee that it won’t attack Iran again.”
