The United States and Iran on June 15, Japan time, agreed on a memorandum of understanding to bring about an immediate and permanent ceasefire, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and establish a framework for future negotiations.
Japanese Communist Party Central Committee Chair Shii Kazuo on the same day posted a comment on his X account, welcoming this development.
He wrote, “As a political party that has demanded an immediate halt to the unlawful U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and an end to the war, we welcome this move to reach an agreement. We strongly hope that the memorandum will be formally signed and reliably implemented, leading to a final resolution of the issue based on the UN Charter and international law.”
